Allan Pidgeon
Australian National Flag Association
Allan Pidgeon chairs the Australian Flag Association which is a voluntary community organisation formed to increase appreciation of the history and significance of a chief national symbol - the Australian flag. Members of the Association promote the celebration of the flag's anniversary every year on September 3, which was officially proclaimed as “Australian National Flag Day” to commemorate the day in 1901 on which the Australian National Flag was first flown. As President, Allan has addressed schools, community groups and service clubs as well as attended speaking engagements about the flag at many citizenship ceremonies. He has published articles and given radio and television interviews about the Australian flag (see below).
About Allan Pidgeon
After completing Commerce/Law degrees at The University of Queensland, Allan worked for an accounting firm for 2 years before joining the family construction business, starting as a builder’s labourer on the Gold Coast. After a period spent studying and working overseas, he returned to Brisbane to work as a stockbroker for 11 years. Following this he took advocacy roles, including with industry associations representing the retail and aged care sectors in Queensland. He is currently a director of the family property business and associated companies.
